Donggala Songket

Here there is a tradition of producing a cloth called a buya subi sabbe, subi referring to supplementary weft weaving. Donggala is a Muslim community, using floral and geometric patterns in its woven representations. The harbour city itself has close links with Surabaya, and its textile design has strong North Coast Javanese influences.
